"The Next Mile" >> Tech Ready Presentations
Presentations about the "Next Mile" Tech Ready Communities pilot project have been made on a
formal and informal basis since October of 2003. The ability to envision seamless to shared
data has been a concept that some people immediately grasp and can apply to their everyday
activities, while others continue to grapple with unrelenting issues surrounding access.
The presentations listed here have been given on a local, regional, state and national level.
On a local level the first series of presentations were made to the county commissioners and
county administrators from the six counties of the San Luis valley; Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla,
Mineral, Rio Grande and Saguache. Presentations have also been made to local area providers,
including Amigo.Net, Blanca Telephone, Century Tel, Columbine Telephone Company, ionSKY, and Wall
Smith & Bateman. Ongoing presentations are being made to local economic development groups, nonprofits,
chambers of commerce, business and community leaders, and representatives from Adams State College and
Trinidad State Junior College.
On a statewide level, presentations are being conducted on an ongoing basis to our partners at the
Colorado Rural Development Council, to representatives from the State of Colorado's Department of
Local Affairs and to representatives from the State of Colorado's MNT project.
Nationally, thus far we have presented to: The National League of County Commissioners, The
National Rural Development Partnership, The National Rural Development Partnership Coordinating
Committee and the United States Department
of Agriculture.
