GIS Training Reimbursement Program
SLVCOG is pleased to offer financial assistance for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) training to local government organizations within our region. This opportunity is made possible through funding from the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) through their Workforce Resilience Program.
Who Can Apply
Individuals in local government organizations in the San Luis Valley region whose operations, or lives, were impacted by COVID-19 are eligible to apply. Employees should work with their employers to access this opportunity.
Training proposals must be approved in advance.

What’s Covered
- Professional development in GIS technologies
- Bootcamps and user group meetings
- GIS trade organization membership
- Training-related materials and expenses
- Travel expenses (following State guidelines)
How It Works
- Employee submits a Training Proposal Form (link below) for pre-approval from supervisor
- Signed form is sent to SLVCOG for review
- Upon SLVCOG approval, training or purchases can start
- Submit reimbursement request using our Reimbursement Request Form (link below)
- Receive payment from SLVCOG within 30 days
- Follow-up reporting will be required

Important Notes
- All activities must align with program guidelines
- All training must be completed by June 30, 2026
- Funds must be used for unique projects or unmet GIS training needs
- Colorado State travel regulations apply to reimbursable expenses
